IFAT CHINA 2008
23 – 25 September 2008
Shanghai New International Expo Centre, P.R. China

China’s 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010) calls for USD 175 billion of investments in environmental protection which means twice as much as in the previous plan. With the implementation of this plan, China’s environment will be further improved. The trend of ecological and environmental degradation will be curbed preliminarily, and the total emission volume of major pollutants will be reduced by 10%. In cities, 70% of wastewater and 60% of residential garbage will be treated. The forest coverage rate is expected to reach 20%. Furthermore according to the national target, renewable power will be 16% of the total power capacity in China in 2020 and it is expected that it will reach 30% or even more in the 2040s.

As a result, China remains the growth market for expertise, products and services in the field of environmental protection. The high investments combined with simultaneous high demand create strong dynamism. China is undoubtedly on its way to becoming the strongest and most promising market in the industry.
